DIY natural hair dyes are a beauty street style trend taking over this Fall. It is a more cost effective and safer way to get the latest hair colours. Here are 5 natural hair dyes you must try this fall. Please use gloves and cover your shoulders and neck with a towel to avoid staining your skin.

The Rustic Craze

Rustic hair colours are a popular street style trend this Fall. To achieve this look or a red tint use rose hips, red onion skins or beet juice. Using either red onion skins or rose hips, boil till the water becomes the colour, strain the water, let it cool, and then apply to hair. Just like regular dyes, keep it in your hair for 20 to 30 minutes before rinsing. For beet juice, slowly massage one cup of beet juice into hair and let it air dry for 30 minutes to an hour before rinsing. The best part about this is that these dyes can be reused and the process can be repeated to get the desired colour.

A Darker Tint

That black tea or morning coffee can also be used to slightly darken your hair. Apply that cup of coffee to your hair and massage it into each strand. Repeat this step 8 to 10 times, but let it cool before reapplying. Another technique that can be used is boiling dried sage and rosemary. Just like red onions and rose hips, bring your rosemary and sage mix to a boil, strain the water, let it cool, apply to hair, and keep it in for 20 to 30 minutes before rinsing.

Drastic Black

For that drastic black hair colour, black walnuts are your friends. Bring 10 shelled walnuts to boil and let it cook for 15 to 25 minutes. Strain your mixture, let it cool and then apply to hair with a brush, layer by layer. Once you have completely covered your hair from root to tip with mixture, cover hair with a shower cap and let the mixture sit for 20 to 30 minutes before rinsing.

Go Blonde

The turmeric spice is not just for curry, but also a key ingredient in getting a blonde or a more yellow tint to your hair. To achieve a mellow yellow, you will need ½ a teaspoon of turmeric, 2 chamomile tea bags, the juice of one lemon, and 1 tablespoon of green tea. Boil each ingredient, except the lemon juice, separately in one cup of boiling water. The lemon juice should be mixed in 1 cup of temperature warm water separately. Combine ingredients, let it cool, and then apply to clean dry hair. Leave your mixture in your hair for an hour before rinsing.

Chocolate Brown

The chocolate brown is one of my favourite hair colours. For this hair dye, you will need 3 tablespoons of coarse coffee, 2 black tea bags, and ½ a cup of sage leaves. Boil each ingredient separately in one cup of boiling water. Combine the ingredients, let it cool, then apply to your hair. This is another mixture you would leave in your hair for an hour before rinsing. This is one DIY hair dyes I want to try this Fall.
