Paris Haute Couture fashion week S/S17 has just wrapped up shortly ahead of fashion month. While the weather may not have matched the seasons of the collections being showcased, (Related: for some ideas of what to wear this winter check out Winter Fashion Trends) it gave of an idea of trends that will begin to emerge in the coming months. Here’s a look at some of the best trends and collections of Paris Couture week.

Valentino

Pierpaolo Piccioli’s solo debut at Valentino was no doubt a success. Loose, flowing dresses, a mix of sheer and opaque fabrics, plain and embellished, in a range of soft colours. This collection embodied spring and femininity, and was one of the highlights of the week.

Zuhair Murad

Murad’s collection was inspired by fireworks, which could be seen embellished on pieces throughout the show. Lots of sparkle, bright colours, ruffles, and unique shapes made this one of the more theatrical collections to be shown.

Elie Saab

Inspired by the golden age of Egyptian film, this collection was definitely regal. Gold, shades of blue, and soft pinks with mauve paid homage to the glamour of that time. Lots of sparkle and embroidered palms and evil eyes were the finishing touches on a gorgeous collection.

Chanel

Chanel’s collection had two very distinct themes: classic tweed suits and over the top glitz. The brand’s iconic tweed suits were featured in a slew of pastel colours that could not be more different from the silvery gowns with large feather accents. If you’re looking to add a bit of classic Chanel to your wardrobe, Designer Swap has a gorgeous Chanel Burgundy Caviar Classic Quilted WOC for you to check out.

Dior

Maria Grazia Chiuri’s debut at Dior was a whimsical collection based on gardens and fairytales. Black, structured suits were juxtaposed by sheer, flowing gowns adorned with imagery of flowers. Some dresses were a mix of both parts of the collection, giving them a unique look.
