Beauty Tips & Trends | Cult Fragrances You Need To Try

Let’s face it, perfume is personal. The mixture of notes, the wear time and even the packaging makes shopping for fragrance difficult. But here are our top 4 fragrances we think are worth trying!

Kiehl’s Musk

This classic unisex scent has been a best seller since the 1920’s for obvious reasons. It starts off creamy, transitions to a light floral, and finishes as a warm musk. This sensual, bohemian scent is just as unusual as it is universal. If you like sexy, slightly heavier scents without smelly too strong, opt for this timeless fragrance.

  • Top Notes: Bergamot Nectar and Orange Blossom
  • Middle Notes: Rose, Lily, Ylang-Ylang and Neroli
  • Base Notes: Tonka Nut, White Patchouli and Musk

Byredo Gypsy Water

If you like light, earthy scents that aren’t patchouli, give Gypsy Water a spritz. It’s woody, sweet, also bohemian, but not like Kiehl’s Musk. It’s more feminine with nods towards a fairy forest as opposed to aged leather. If you’ve ever wondered what a Free People catalogue would smell like, this is it. Appropriate for all seasons, this fragrance smells just as good as it looks on your vanity.

  • Top Notes: Bergamot, lemon, pepper and juniper
  • Middle Notes: Incense, pine needles and orris root
  • Base Notes: Amber, vanilla and sandalwood.

Diptyque Philosykos

Decadent yet light, this scent reminds me of Greece and macarons. Milky and fresh, woody and rich, sharp but soft, this is a perfume that can be loved by all people of all ages. If you like the smell of fig but prefers the pungency to be cut by something creamy (in this case coconut and cedar), this is yours. It’s uplifting and beachy without trying to be – give this a sniff.

  • Top Notes: Fig leaf and fig
  • Middle Notes: Coconut and green notes
  • Base Notes: Cedar, woody notes and fig tree.

Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille

This is the heaviest scent of the four and although is unisex, leans more on the masculine side. Personally, it’s my favorite because it’s heady and complicated. The decadent vanilla juxtaposes the sweet dried fruit scent while the cocoa and wood compliment each other. This is definitely a conversation starter and only requires a single spritz. This may seem more appropriate for night, but I say break the rules and wear it wherever, whenever.

  • Top Notes: Tobacco leaf and spicy notes
  • Middle Notes: Tonka bean, tobacco blossom, vanilla and cacao
  • Base Notes: Dried fruits and woody notes.
