Tips & Trends | Shoe of the Summer: The Mule

I work in a shoe store that supplies on-trend choices at any price point you could imagine. When our spring and summer changeover was upon us, I couldn’t wait to see what would fill our store. The one style in particular that caught my eye was the mule. They come in all kinds of colours, heights, materials (I’ve seen denim ones that gave me Barbie vibes), etc. A seemingly intimidating and challenging shoe to style at first, turned into my staple summer shoe.

The mule has been a popular style for years. In fact, many years ago, the most elite of the elite (like, the Beyonces of society) in Versailles wore them to show off their nobility and social status. Today is a little different BUT you can look just as chic as the upper class did years ago!

What I love most about this type of sandal is how versatile it is. I always talk about versatility when it comes to shoes, and gravitate toward styles that can take me from day to night in a flash. The mule does just that AND they are super comfortable. Being slightly vertically challenged (I’m 5’0 of fun, I promise you!), I’m definitely no stranger to heels. The chunky heel on a mule seals the deal for me. It beats the heck out of sacrificing my feet for a night, that’s for sure!
