Tips & Trends | Where To Go And What To Wear: Brunch

Some people say you truly are not Torontonian until you’ve spent your Sundays brunching in the city, and realistically, what better way is there to ride out the last few weeks of winter than sipping mimosas with our girlfriends!

Brunch is always a fun meal to dress for. Typically, no matter which season we’re in, lighter colours always work their way into the brunch ‘uniform’ and dressing up a tad is sometimes a fun part of going. Of course like any other meal of the day, where you go has some sort of effect on what you wear so whether you’re headed to the Annex or over to King West, we’ve got you covered.

Where to go: Portland Variety, 587 King St W, Toronto

This stunning european inspired restaurant offers an amazing line up of classic sweet or savoury brunch items with a bit of a twist. Not only do they serve up the yummiest avocado toast but look forward to beautiful lattes and the thickest french toast you’ll ever see.

What to wear:

This spring, we can look forward to the return of the denim miniskirt, so considering the beautiful weather, it’s time to break them out, ladies. Paired with an oversized knit and some thigh-high boots, you’ll be perfectly brunch ready. No need to go over board with heavy make up for this meal – a natural look is all you’ll need for this time of day, but if you’re feeling daring, you can never go wrong with a classic red lip.

Where to go: Insomnia Restaurant, 563 Bloor St W, Toronto

This Annex gem is a must see in the brunch world. The long list of different takes on the classic egg benny’s and unusual mimosas are enough to keep anyone going back, not to mention, the home fries are to die for!

What to wear:

A morning brunch after a late night out with your best girlfriends calls for comfy and casual. This is one of those moments when we can thank the fashion gods for creating stylish jogging pants, pair those with a cool t-shirt, a nice pair of booties and a leather jacket – Gigi Hadid did it, why cant we? Hide tired eyes with a sweet pair of Gucci Aviators from the DS shop!

Where to go: Mildred’s Temple Kitchen, 85 Hanna Ave, Toronto

Located in Liberty Village, this upscale brunch spot is the perfect lavish place for those times when you feel like treating yourself. Serving brunch all week, there really isn’t any reason not to go! Start with a cocktail and delicious fluffy pancakes or go for the big brunch skillets or a savoury tart.

What to wear:

Vintage, vintage and more vintage! This year is all about vintage styles and we are loving it. Grab a pair of old style Levi jeans – not only are they incredibly stylish, but the amount of comfort these babies provide might surprise you. Stick with the vintage feel and throw on a neat print or textured top and a fun clutch! Top the look off with Designer Swap’s Tom Ford sunnies and a bold pair of booties, you’ll be brunch ready in no time.
