Fashion News | TWFW Lesley Hampton FW 2017 Recap

One of the other shows I had to pleasure to attend while at Toronto Women’s Fashion Week was Lesley Hampton’s The Golden Hour FW17 collection. Drawing inspiration from her First Nation’s heritage, Hampton’s collection was a display of black, white, golden and earth tones. Intricate geometric designs, flowing, sheer fabrics and gorgeous brocade made each unique piece extremely eye-catching. Glittering and metallic finishes the fabrics of many looks caught the light beautifully, much like the soft glow of the golden hour.

While there are certainly more wearable pieces in this collection, there are a few that are truly art. Long, voluminous dresses with raven feather accents were striking and dramatic. Simple silhouettes were adorned with elements of extremely detailed pattern. Even the hair was bold and intricate; half-up in braids with triangular hooks woven in like a crown of sorts. Overall, this was a remarkable collection and it definitely proves that Lesley Hampton is a designer to watch.
