Fashion News | Best Dressed: Oscars 2016 Red Carpet

For actors and actresses, the Oscars are a time to appreciate the art of film and to congratulate the artists behind them. For us, it’s a time to covet the latest fashion trends, to critique the best and worst looks, and to lust after our favorite dresses. This year, the Oscars were more than just a red carpet fashion show with enlightening performances by Chris Rock and Lady Gaga. But, it being the 88th Academy Awards, the dresses were a bit underwhelming. Thankfully, celebrities and their stylists stepped it up a dull decibel from the Grammys, yet still not much was being heard. Well, apart from Alicia Vikander and her custom Louis Vuitton Dress – we hear you, girl.

image 1Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie was the Golden Globes’ very own golden girl. Her plunging neckline was daring, but classy. The shining snakeskin sheath was daring, yet doable. Margot was walking on the fine line of tacky and tasteful, but she lives on the edge. Her sexy, yet sophisticated Tom Ford number proves that finding balance between extremes is true style.

image 2Lady Gaga

Finally, a sexy jumpsuit! Wearing a Brandon Maxwell custom jumpsuit-dress hybrid, Gaga was oozing chic. Lady Gaga gives off an old-Hollywood flare with the rich heart-shaped neckline and draping skirt but adds a touch of modernism through the streamlined simplicity.  Her $8 million worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewelry is fit for a queen, and though we can’t see it, she sure wears a crown.

image 3Charlize Theron

Someone call the fire department because Charlize Theron is flaming hot! In a slim fit, bright red, plunging v-neck Dior Haute Couture dress, Charlize’s sexy look was on fire. Also, did she stop aging in 1999? Because her skin was absolutely glowing, like the $3.7 million of Harry Winston jewelry she was wearing.

image 4Rooney Mara

Rooney Mara is one of the coolest celebrities to walk the red carpets. She naturally exudes style with her smooth skin, chiseled cheekbones and dark eyes. This Givenchy dress collides old world embroidery with new world exposure, and like Rooney, it harmoniously collides the juxtaposition of sharpness and gentility. I don’t think anyone could have worn it better.

image 5Rachel McAdams

The prismatic emerald hue and simple shape of Rachel McAdams’ August Getty Atelier Dress was uncomplicated yet enticing. Her elegant intentions turned sexy with a high slit and exposed black. “Show, don’t tell” seems to be the elusive type of sexiness that only Rachel McAdams mastered last night.
