Men’s Fashion Icons: Male Celebrities With Style Cred

This Thursday I’m taking a break from the rules of men’s fashion (I think we all need it after conquering shoes and pants) to bring you a little style inspiration from the stars. The ladies have celebs like Diane Kruger and Lily Collins to look to for our fashion cues; men need style icons, too!

Countless magazines and blogs count down the best and worst dressed ladies on the red carpet, so it’s easy to decide which female stars aren’t exactly worthy of imitation. The fashion leaders among men aren’t quite as easy to spot; however, my new-found menswear knowledge (read: obsession) has me quickly clicking past celebs in gowns in search of those in suits lately. I’ve discovered a group of standout male fashionistas and they’re all handsome, manly and, most importantly, confident. I’ve sorted these guys into two groupes: four men who can serve as inspiration for dressing up and four men who can serve as inspiration for dressing down.

JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT: MODERN MAN
JGL looks great in a waistcoat and knows it. He isn’t afraid to rock suits with a little shine or detail (he’s wears plaid especially well). Gordon-Levitt has mastered both skinny ties and bow ties, and he knows the value of a three-piece suit. RYAN GOSLING: CREATIVE WITH COLOUR
We’ve never seen such a vast portfolio of colourful suits on a man! Gosling pulls off green, blue, camel and a multitude of other hues with gusto, and he never skimps on his shoes. We love that he pairs his red carpet suits with oxfords and loafers – not many stars venture into loafer territory (successfully)!
