Every season has its staple trends. Whether it be wool and leather in the cold weather months to cotton and chiffon once temperatures rise, we associate certain textiles with our favourite seasonal memories. Maybe this is just me? If you can relate, read on for your new go-to fall look.
Metallic finish. A symbol of tin-men and disco balls and the ever-coveted stainless steel appliances. But if I’m being honest, metallic clothing and accessories have always seemed tacky in a trying too hard, Sharpay Evans from High School Musical kind of way. They were too glitzy for my admittedly neutral and minimalistic wardrobe.
HOWEVER. My strong opinions against certain trends usually result in me putting my foot in my mouth, and this time is no different.
Pops of outfit excitement in the form of metallic bags, shoes, jackets, pants…(the list goes on and on), have been the objects of my obsession lately. Somehow, adding a pop of metallic makes an outfit look so easy, and timelessly classy. I would limit your metallic pieces to a maximum of one per outfit to keep it subtle, but even that one small addition makes you feel instantly fancy. Think futuristic, meets runway, meets pretty ready-to-wear, and you get a trend that I genuinely don’t think will ever go out of style.
Designer Swap is currently selling a couple of killer bags that embrace the metallic finish this fall; the Metallic Military Tote Bag by Tod’s, for example, is a luxury piece that you will never get tired of. Even when you’re rocking basic tee and jeans, this bag will add an unparalleled level of lavish to an otherwise everyday ensemble. I love the idea of pieces that can seamlessly transform from daytime to evening looks.
Granted, the metallic finish may not be for everyone. But, I have been converted to the likes of silvery pieces this fall: and you should definitely join me (I dare you!)
