NEW CHIEF CREATIVE OFFICER ALERT! Burberry just found it’s new fashion fusion king in Riccardo Tisci. News broke out about this exciting new partnership with the former creative director of Givenchy a few days ago, sending shockwaves all over the fashion world.
In a series of posts on Instagram, Tisci announced he would call London his home again. Representing Burberry is a big deal, not only because of who they are but because of their presence in design and what they’ve done for fashion over the many, many years (over 162 to be exact). Reported by Refinery29, Tisci “will direct all Burberry collections and present his first for the brand in September. Effective March 12, Tisci will be based at Burberry’s headquarters in London.”
Last year, Bernard Arnault, the CEO of LVMH, credited Tisci for his time with Givenchy saying: “the chapter Riccardo Tisci has written with the house of Givenchy over the last 12 years represents an incredible vision to sustain its continuous success, and I would like to warmly thank him for his core contribution to the house’s development.”
I’m ready to see him turn the classic plaid upside down, all while keeping to the brand’s culture and identity. His approach to high fashion is absolutely unprecedented. While he maintains elegance and class, there’s something about his darkness and cutting edge that is worth mentioning too. He made streetwear cool again too. Not only that, he has brought his vision to life through so many iconic individuals such as Beyonce and Rihanna and turned the likes of Kim Kardashian into his muse. I can only imagine what’s to come when he steps foot in London at Burberry!
