Tips & Trends | Square Toes & Angled Heels

Have a look at the runways. Take a glance down at the pavement when you’re walking the city streets. Everywhere you look, 90s trends are taking over and one that people seem to glance right over are square toes and angled heels! This vintage and unique shoe design is perfect for fall and if you’re looking to be ahead of the trend, you’ve come to the right place!

There’s something exceptionally convenient about square-toe heels. They’re not only fashionable but depending on the shoe, they can be adapted to any outfit. As a strappy heel, they can be dressed up. As a square-toed loafer like these Salvatore Ferragamo vintage heels, added to a pair of jeans, you’ve amped up the outfit and taken yourself from lazy to stylish. The square toe invokes 90s vibes which is all the rage, and the particular style of the shoe says “business but ready for the runway”.

I loved the idea of a designer square toe shoe so much that I found these second-hand Gucci heels a few months back. Not only was I anticipating this look all over the runway from having read about the trend in magazines, but I knew this particular style would be perfect for the changing weather and would be ideal in bringing a heavy, cozy, casual fall outfit from homebody to strut-ready.

Another look that is taking over runways and can be found in designer and fast fashion shops alike are the angled heels. When added to an otherwise lovely but simple shoe, it amps up the “wow-factor” and brings the individual wearing the shoe from dressed up to out-of-this-world! It’s sexy, it’s risque, it’s unique, and as you can see on these Kate Maconie and Penny Black heels, it really gets your jaw-dropping. There is both a futuristic and 80s throwback vibe to these heels, and I’ve yet to walk into a store here in Paris, France and not spot at least one pair for sale that’s rocking the angled look. I’ve seen them on loafers, on pumps, and even a little heel has been spotted on what would otherwise be considered to be flats.

There’s no wrong way to rock these trends. The only suggestion I can give is to give a square-toe a try, even if you’ve never dared to before (it will blow your mind – my life was changed when I threw on those Gucci heels!). And don’t be afraid to bring a little shock-factor to your outfit-of-the-day by showing off an angled heel while you’re at it!
