Tips & Trends | Sunglasses Trends of Summer 2018

Sunglasses are easily one of my favourite items to accessorize with. They’re the easiest way to dress up an outfit from casual to fabulous, but it is an accessory that can help make or break your outfit. Since there are so many different styles, I have narrowed it down to a couple of key styles that I think are relevant for Summer 2018.

90’s Inspired Skinny Framed Sunglasses

As the summer goes on, I have to say the more I keep seeing this trend being worn by celebrities and friends alike, the more of inclination I have to buy a pair for myself. If you want a more clean and vibrant finished look, I suggest purchasing a darker frame. For a 50’s pin up look, search for frames that are smaller, cat-eyed and coloured.

Oversized and Glamorous

Oval and oversized, the perfect storm for a pair of sunglasses and I’m forecasting they will look cute on  your face! This style tends to suit everyone. Of course, the bigger they are, the more glamorous they look. I love this style of sunglasses when I am rocking a casual, boho chic look.

Flat Top Sunnies

This season, flat top sunglasses are receiving a lot of attention from celebrities and fashionistas all over Instagram. Be on the lookout for styles of these glasses that feature metal double-bar details. This style will elevate your outfits and portray a polished, old-school look that is super ‘in’. Both men and women can rock this style without a problem, which is awesome if you want to snag your boyfriend’s or best guy friend’s (we won’t tell). Grab a pair of these beauties for a festival, camping, beach day, or any other summer adventure that comes your way. 

Don’t Be A Square This Summer

Square sunglasses are making their triumphant return this summer and next season. You have been warned. Going big and bold this summer will take combining two of the hottest trends which are: squared and oversized shades. Copping a pair of these shades for the summer will no doubt have you looking like a babe on the beach and give off a mysterious appeal to whoever’s attention you catch. Add bright colours of this style to add colour to your outfit, and look for thin frames for a sleek look. These frames look best on oval shaped faces, so if you’re one of those people, GO FOR IT.

Vintage Round Glasses

This has been a trend for as long as I can remember now, even now with the emerging square frame coming to popularity, this style is still a fan favourite! We will be seeing an elevated version of this style with lots of different colours. Pick a style with a metal frame if you want a more androgynous look.
