Tips & Trends | Top 5 Must Have Summer Accessories

Summer is right around the corner (come on Mr. Sun, shine just a little brighter) and as young women, we stress about a few things as it approaches. Firstly, we worry about what we’ll look like in our bikinis (I’m still working on this as we speak). Secondly, we try to think of all of the adventures we want to go on with our pals to ensure that our summer is fun-filled and one to look back on (ie: 5-10 years from now, we want to say “ahhh, the summer of 2017 was impeccable.”…am I right?). Last, but certainly not least, we look in our closets and dressers and ask ourselves if our wardrobe is adequate enough. Let’s worry about the clothes for next time.

For now, let’s talk accessories! Here are my top 5 must have summer accessories for 2017!

1. A Staple Pair Of Sunglasses

Okay, I’ll admit it. I hoard sunnies. Ever since I was a teen, I’ve had a thing for sunglasses and having lots of them (I’m an options kind of gal). I typically rummage through Forever 21 or H&M, find me a couple pairs per summer and I’m set. However, last year, my eyes fell in love with a pair of Alexander McQueen sunnies I knew I had to have. I looked at them and knew they spoke to me right away. They’re olive green with really cool reflective lenses. I still have all of the other sunnies of my past (I’ll never let go) but having one universal pair that you can go to consistently is great and ideal for the summer, especially when you’re on the go a lot of the time!

2. Ankle Bracelets and Toe Rings

 I don’t know if it’s a 90s thing making a comeback but I definitely remember this being a thing as a kid. I love how it looks AND love how versatile this particular aesthetic is. It can dress up a more casual outfit or add some more character to an already fierce one.

3. Dad Hats

I never thought I’d ever become a hat person, but here we are! For the longest time, I convinced myself I didn’t have a head suitable for hats. Boy, was I wrong. Thanks to the ever so trendy “dad hats” that every company seems to have these days (and I ain’t complaining either), my outfits feel more complete. Though hats are typically more of a laid back accessory, there are so many neat designs for any look! AND it’s a plus to block out the sun!

4. Body Jewellry

Similar to ankle bracelets and toe rings, body jewellry is super versatile. A little more on the sexy side, it adds some interest and flatters the body and whatever silhouette you’re rocking with! I love how dainty most pieces are, yet how impactful they are on a look.

1. Mini Backpack For Day Trips 

I am currently searching for the perfect mini-backpack for all of the day trips and adventures I find myself on each summer. Something that fits all of the essentials. I’m doing my best to be more of a minimalist and this is a great way to balance out needs and wants when it comes to “what’s in my bag!” Cut the clutter and pack the right amount!
