Fashion News | Virgil Abloh Debuts Under Louis Vuitton At the Met Gala

There’s no better place to make a statement than at the Met Gala. Virgil Abloh, who recently took over the menswear wing at Louis Vuitton, gave us a sneak peak at the event of what is possibly to come at LV.

Virgil styled Kendall Jenner in a custom Off-White Label design and also walked alongside the supermodel on the red carpet. Vogue documented Kendall’s fitting in a behind the scenes exclusive and what stood out to me most was Virgil making sure that she felt good in the pieces that he put together for her. That’s so important. It’s one thing to be a creative, but it’s another to remain human simultaneously. That special care and passion that he invests into Off-White is what will make Virgil stand out at Louis Vuitton.

Speaking of standing out, Virgil did not disappoint in an all-white Louis Vuitton suit decorated with a Catholic stained glass detail to fit the theme of this year’s Met Gala. This particular look was allegedly developed for his inaugural LV Men’s atelier runway show slated for June, according to Highsnobiety.

I have always respected Virgil’s approach to design philosophy. It is futuristic, yet modern; minimalistic, yet extraordinary. He’s an artistic powerhouse and gives me the same feeling I get when I look at a painting; encompassing that riveting and compelling effect only true artists can create.

According to Vogue: “Abloh’s first collection for Louis Vuitton men’s will debut at Paris Fashion Week this June, but based on what we know already, it will be a clever interplay of heritage and the designer’s signature subversions. Keep an eye on [Louis] Vuitton’s social presence for more clues.” Stay tuned ladies and gentlemen!
