Lifestyle | Where to Go & What to Wear: Holiday Party Outfits 2017

‘Tis the season for holiday parties! Whether it’s bae’s family dinner or the annual work shindig, expect a vastly different dress code. With these looks, you’ll look fabulous and well-attired—no matter what party you’re at this season.

Your Office Holiday Party

The office holiday party might be a time to—kind-of—let your hair down, but it’s not the time to try out any new trends. It is time to celebrate, but save those glittering YSL knock-offs for the after party.

Channel a classy ensemble. A velvet shift dress in a seasonal colour, like an emerald or Bordeaux shade, is a flattering piece that can be easily dressed up with a statement necklace and an oversized clutch. Complete the look with a nice pair of ankle boots or pumps.

If a dress isn’t your thing, a pleated mid-length skirt and blouse work just as well.

Your Best Friend’s Dinner Party

Your best friend’s dinner party is the party zone—there are no holds barred here.

Faux leather leggings, velvet pants, and a pleated leather skirt are all acceptable options. Tops can range from flowy silk blouses to sequined camisoles, in holiday colours like plum and burgundy or emerald and grey. An oversized timepiece with matching earrings finish the look.

Your S/O’s Family Christmas Party

It’s always best to play it safe at a family gathering—a statement that applies even more so when it’s not your family party. Keep it in line this season with an oversized cable knit sweater or turtleneck. Black jeans or cigarette pants provides a polished look that’s always sharp. Finish it off with a nice watch, elegant earrings, and ankle boots.

Look stylish with a touch of cozy, ready to impress bae and the family.

Your Family Christmas Party

Similar rules apply when dressing for your own family dinner. Here, your outfit should evoke an attitude that carries the right amount of class and poise. Opt for fitted trousers or knee-length skirts, with blouses and cardigans or fitted cable knit sweaters. For accessories, try simple, timeless jewellery in coordinating metals. If you’re travelling on the holiday, flat ankle boots are stylish and easy to walk in.
