Tips & Trends | Lessons from Carrie Bradshaw

If there’s one woman who could teach us anything about fashion, its Carrie Bradshaw. The strong-willed fashionista has broken more style rules then we can count, but that only leads to inspire. For years, women had the luxury of watching Carrie and her three best friends take on NYC, dressed in the most glamorous clothes and even more enchanting personalities. We’ve seen her test dangerous prints, tulle skirts, satin slip dresses and outrageous accessories – yet she still looked amazing, every time.

Needless to say, there is a reason some of us are still watching reruns over and over. Whatever the reason, we can probably all say that Carrie Bradshaw and her extremely diverse group of friends have taught us something.

You Can Never Be Too Over Dressed

Watching Carrie get glammed up almost every night to have dinner with her friends or drinks with Big will always bring us great joy. Sitting in front of the TV thinking, ‘Man she looks good, I wish I could wear that.’ Well, guess what? You can! Why not dress ourselves up a little more when we can –  it’s an amazing feeling to feel beautiful. So next time it’s date night, go for a pencil skirt rather then jeans, put on the stilettos rather than sneakers and see how you feel! If Carrie can do it, so can we.

Classic is Always in Style

We all have those days when we just can’t seem to find the right outfit. Staring into our closets, amongst the racks full of all different colours and patterns, we see nothing. That’s ok though – it happens to the best of us. When in doubt, be like Carrie and throw on a little black dress. Slip dresses are also a good way to go. They’re easy and look fabulous paired with any kind of jacket. You can never go wrong with classics!

Matching is Not a Requirement

One thing we can’t deny is Bradshaw’s love for mixing patterns and colours. Some say it’s a HUGE fashion no-no, but for some reason Carrie pulls it off so effortlessly. This one is a little tricky for some of us, we won’t lie. The safest way to mix and match is to stick with one colour and mix different patterns. Give it a try, it may be your favourite trend this summer!

Dress for Yourself, Not Anyone Else

The most important lesson Carrie has taught us by far, is to be ourselves. More often then not, we find ourselves changing to impress others when we should be focusing on ourselves. We are all unique beautiful people and we shouldn’t toss that aside for another person, no matter who it might be. So, if you want to wear a bird in you hair as a fashion statement, do it – who cares what anyone else thinks! Be happy with who you are – Carrie would love that.
