Men’s Style Guide | Pool Party Outfit Ideas

There is only a few more weeks left of summer so it’s time to take advantage of the heat while we still can. The hottest time of the summer is now, which leads to only one type of activity – pool parties! Not sure about you but I would go to a pool any day of the week

Gents, if you are hitting up Cabana Pool Bar, Muzik pool parties or just going to a friends backyard pool, here are some different ideas when putting together an outfit for a day under the sun.

Choose the Right Swim Trunks

Don’t go for the flashy colours and the busy prints that would catch people’s attention in the wrong way. Choose swim trunks that are simple, adding some colour is fine but be sure that you are comfortable y. If you feel you have gained a bit of weight, go with a dark colour when selecting a bathing suit to take attention away from the stomach. As you can see by the photos, the trunks are also above the knee. The length of your trunks is important so make sure that when buying swim trunks they are just above and so they are not too baggy.

What Shirt to Wear

The shirt is where you can get creative! If you are focused on showing off the words on your shirt, I would suggest wearing a light shirt with a dark coloured font, people surrounding you will definitely notice your shirt. If you want to focus more on the swim trunks, white and black options are probably best. I personally love seeing lighter colours on men with unique prints. Bright colours such as pink and yellow in the sun with no patterns hurt the eyes slightly (maybe just my eyes slightly) but like I said, it is your choice! If you want to go bright and , than the shirt would be best rather than the trunks. There is really right or wrong advice I can give here, at the end, comfort does come first and it all depends on what YOU feel comfortable wearing.

Accessories

I am not the biggest fan of men wearing jewellery. HOWEVER, I do feel that SOME simple looks can complete a pool party outfit. If you must wear a necklace/bracelet, wear a necklace that is black with a small pendant. Black always goes with everyone so choosing your accessories should be the easiest part.

Shoes

This is my favourite part of the outfit! I am so jealous because men have crazy amounts of options when it comes to comfortable shoes. If your priority is comfort, Toms are a great options. Slip-on Converse shoes or the traditional boat shoes from stores such as Nordstrom and Aldo are also other great alternatives. Pick shoes that are white, black or blue. I am sure you would rather people look at your face than at your feet!

At first I thought that men had it easy when it came to coordinating an outfit for pool parties. All you have to do is choose a shirt, swim trunks and a pair of shoes but it REALLY isn’t the case. Women have too many options and can’t decide what to wear whereas men have challenges standing out from the rest of the guys who are all wearing the same thing. I hope these tips help when choosing your next pool party outfit.
