As a plus sized girl, I am familiar with the struggle of knowing what I want to wear, but being disappointed when I try it on in the fitting room. Often times, it just doesn’t look as flattering as I had imagined. It can be frustrating and upsetting because these ill-fitting clothes don’t make me feel beautiful! If you can relate to this feeling, fret no more. I am going to give you some plus size style tips to help you dress for your beautiful, plus sized figure.

Dress for Your Shape and Figure

The last thing a plus sized woman would want to do is wear something too small or unflattering for their body. Dress according to your size and shape. If you have a more round shape, don’t dress like you have an hourglass shape. You should also choose the size that fits you, and not the one that you wish you could fit (this applies to everyone). When you dress for your size and shape, you will feel more comfortable and confident because your clothes will fit amazingly! Undergarments

The type of undergarments you wear are also very important. You want to wear undergarments that help you feel the most comfortable. Bras and panties that fit well are essential to looking good in any type of clothing. For example, some bras come with a wider band to provide more support, and in return, you feel more comfortable. If you’re unsure of your bra size, get a professional to help! After that, you can try a girdle to help shape your mid-section to give you more of a defined, curvy form. These are great especially under form fitting clothes. Once you find your perfect-fitting undergarments, the clothes on top will look better too.

Look for Plus Size Sections

I understand that shopping for plus size is frustrating in general. Many stores don’t offer a range of sizes that accommodate – and even if they do, the section is often inadequate in terms of variety. But that doesn’t mean you should give up! Many stores have a larger selection of plus size in their online shop. There are also stores that specifically cater to plus size women! Below I’ve listed a few shops I personally like to frequent:

Love Yourself

This is the most important tip. If you don’t love yourself, then no one else will. You should love every curve and inch on your body. Your body is yours, and you would be much happier if you are able to appreciate your body. However, if you’re unhappy, then know that the human body is capable of change. No matter how you look, you should always love yourself. Big is sexy. Embrace your body and stay confident.
