From the first time I stumbled upon Mirabelle’s Instagram, I always felt there was a certain je ne sais quoi about her. Perhaps it is her beautifully curated, clean Instagram aesthetic, or her professional quality outfit photos that look like they belong in a magazine editorial. Every outfit seems thoughtfully put together, and made for her.

Take our advice and follow her immediately – this girl has got a bright future planned and you don’t want to miss out!

What or who inspired you to start blogging?

I started blogging mainly because I wanted to have a platform where I could apply, first hand, everything I learned in my digital communications program. So things like social media marketing, content creation, graphic design, copywriting and branding. My blog became a testing board for all these skills I learned. It also gave (and continues) to give me a chance to fully express myself to my supporters. I am constantly inspired by a lot of bloggers. But my favourites are Aimee Song of Song of Style and Natasha Ndlovu and Bisous Natasha.  I would say they inspired the style segment of my blog.

We noticed your super adorable (and somewhat faint) accent in your “Get to Know Me” video, when did you move to Canada from Nigeria?

Ha! Thank you. I moved here with my family ten years ago. I can’t believe it’s already been ten years!

Also in your video, you mentioned that you would like to travel more. Where is the #1 destination you have on your bucket list?

I can’t pick one! The Dominican Republic and Hawaii are on top of the list. I’ve also always wanted to visit Japan, Australia and France. I also would like to visit other African countries because I didn’t get to do that while I was living in Nigeria unfortunately.

We would describe your style to be a classic, chic & very posh. How would you describe your own personal style?

Thank you! I think you got it right. Chic is definitely right. But I also like to add a little nuance or edge to my chic style by throwing in a super vintage item or experimenting with unusual silhouettes but still keeping the overall look clean. I like to mix and match trends and pieces. I’ll pair trendy denim from Zara or Topshop with a super old school leather jacket. My favourite outfits are usually ones that are mixed and matched. They represent my personality the most.

What is your favourite fashion trend for this spring season?

Definitely exaggerated/statement sleeves. I love them!

What is your least favourite fashion trend for this season?

I’m not really a fan of plastic jeans.

Describe to us how you plan your unique looks for each blog post?

I have a few places where I get inspiration from like, the two bloggers I mentioned above, my Instagram feed and my Pinterest feed.  A group of bloggers and I have a shared Pinterest board where we pin our outfits weekly to inspire others and to get inspiration from others. I also visit Zara whenever I’m in the mall just to see what kinds of choices they are making.

By the end of the week, I’m usually filled with inspiration and usually have an idea what I want to channel in my next outfit shoot. In coming up with the outfits, I strive to find new ways to wear what I already have. It makes me feel creative.

What is your favourite colour to wear?

I absolutely love mustard yellow! I have been wearing it a lot. I even have a board on my Pinterest dedicated to mustard. Ha!

What are your goals for the next 5 years?

My goal is to work as an Art/Creative Director in the marketing/advertising industry. In 5 years, I hope to have finished with grad school and have gained enough experience in the industry to be working as an Art Director! I also should have launched a branding/design/copywriting business.

I hope to have scored some great collaborations for my blog. I hope to have collaborated with charities, which is one of the most important goals I set for my blog. I also hope to have travelled to some of the places I mentioned above. I hope to still be as passionate and as driven as I am now.  Most importantly, I hope to have inspired people.

And lastly, tell us one unique thing about yourself that you have not yet told your followers!

I secretly want to be a motivational speaker! I love pep talking people. I love it when I other people step up to pursue their dreams. Whether it’d be starting a business, auditioning to become a singer/actor, starting a charity, honing their gifts and talents, adopting a child, it gives me so much joy because I know how much courage is required to take that leap of faith. And to know that said person has found this much courage is inspirational!
