2016 is now officially over, and what a year it was! As with any year, there were some standout trends that could be found everywhere, with some of them still seeming to show no signs of slowing down. Chokers

The most popular accessory of the year was the choker, hands down. Of the many 90’s trends that regained traction in recent times, this one has had the most staying power. Chokers can be paired with any outfit and are incredibly versatile. Thick or thin, simple or elaborate, single or layered, you name it it can be done. Bomber Jackets

This style of jacket was everywhere and could be found on everyone. The classic, simple shape meant it could transform any look, from casual to dressed up. The range of colours and embellishments added to the versatility of bomber jackets.

Body Suits

While not necessarily the most practical piece to have in your wardrobe, there’s no denying how great they look. Bodysuits made a huge comeback in 2016, particularly those with a lace-up neckline. The streamlined silhouette they create looks amazing with everyone’s fave high waisted jeans and ankle boots combo.

Over The Knee Boots

2016 was the year of extremes when it came to boots: ankle vs over the knee. While ankle boots still had their moment, as they have the past several years, this time it was OTK’s chance to shine. A staple for another huge 2016 trend, lampshading (i.e. wearing an oversized t-shirt or hoodie as a dress with OTK boots) was what really brought them to the limelight. Another fave way to wear them is over top leather leggings with a moto jacket.

Artist Merchandise

Vintage band tees and tour merch (think Kanye and Bieber) is yet another 2016 trend that seems like it will continue to be huge in 2017. Whether it’s showing off your love for your favourite artists, or if you just think that distressed vintage AC/DC shirt looks amazing, this is a trend anyone can get behind.
