Tips & Trends | The (Faux) Fur Coat

So, I have a story for you. This year for Halloween, I dressed up as Nicki Minaj for one party and Cruella De Vil for another. Both costumes required a fur coat, so I found one while browsing Forever 21’s website and it was a dang STEAL (regular $70 and I got it for $22…it’s small victories in life like this that keep me going). I was happy about spending that much on something I thought I was only going to wear just those two nights. BOY, WAS I WRONG. I can’t get enough of the thing. So much so, I have been doing my very best to find more fur coats in different colours and patterns to add to my collection. And the timing is so right because fur is soooooo on trend at the moment.

Usually when I think of fur, I think of evening attire. But that rule has been thrown out the window. The main reason why I love street wear is because it follows no particular guidelines and moves to the beat of its own drum, yet always stays on trend.

I also want to mention the importance of buying faux fur! Animals are meant to be loved, not worn. You can find GREAT alternatives for real fur at all price points and exceedingly high levels of softness. For $22, I am wearing a fur coat that feels as soft as a blanket.

The versatility of a fur coat is what makes them so fabulous. You can change the tone of a casual outfit or add some flair to a more fancy ensemble by choosing the right colour, texture and length. It’s up to you to make the most out of your choice!
